Titans’ $14 Million Veteran Could Be on Hot Seat This Offseason
Former first-round pick Treylon Burks has been put on notice this offseason. The Tennessee Titans declined his fifth-year options, which means there’s nothing tying him to the franchise after this season.
Burks needs to have a strong season in 2025 if he hopes to land with another team next year, but he may not even have security this season. Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report went through and listed the best player from every team who could still get cut.
Burks was his pick for the Titans.
“Through three seasons, Burks has just 699 receiving yards and one touchdown,” Knox wrote. “He had a mere four catches last year and could be pushed further down the depth chart this year by newcomers Van Jefferson, Tyler Lockett, Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor.
Unlike quarterback Will Levis—who is largely expendable after Tennessee drafted Cam Ward at No. 1 overall—Burks does not carry substantial trade value.”
One thing that has worked against Burks is that he was brought in as a direct replacement for AJ Brown, who has cemented himself as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL since getting traded to the Philadelphia Eagles.
It’s possible that Burks still has some potential. He has yet to play more than 11 games in a season, so that is a reason for his low numbers.
That said, another injury could lead the Titans to simply cut ties. Burks needs a strong training camp if he wants to stay in Tennessee, and he also needs to stay healthy for more than 11 games.
