Ohio State four-star defensive line target sets commitment date

With spring practices over for the Ohio State football team, a focus will be put back on recruiting. The Buckeyes is off to a hot start already in the 2026 recruiting class, and this past weekend will only help the team close out the class.
Ohio State saw an enormous 14 players selected in the 2025 NFL Draft and multiple former Buckeyes have been signed to teams as undrafted free agents. This is proof of Ohio State’s ability to recognize and develop talent at the college football level, and is a huge recruiting tool for the Buckeyes moving forward.
It is not a coincidence that Ohio State made the recruiting headlines Monday, including when one of its top defensive line targets in the class include the Buckeyes in his top schools and announce a commitment date.
Four-star defensive lineman Preston Carey (Bradenton, FL / IMG Academy) announced a commitment date of June 30 and included Ohio State in his top seven schools alongside Georgia, Auburn, Florida, Rutgers, Alabama and USC.
Carey has visited with Ohio State already on numerous occasions and an official visit is scheduled with the Buckeyes for May 30. He will also take official visits with all of his finalists with USC receiving the final one.
Ohio State has long been recruiting Carey, offering him back in early 2023 and since the offer the Buckeyes and defensive line coach Larry Johnson have remained in frequent contact with him. None of his finalists have seemingly separated themselves from the pack but we will likely learn more following his visits. He is scheduled to commit just weeks following them wrapping up.
Carey is the No. 31 DL recruit in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and is the No. 278 overall recruit. He is also the No. 45 recruit out of the talent-rich state of Florida.
Ohio State offers pair of 2027 New Jersey OTs
Ryan Day and the Ohio State football team are also actively recruiting next year’s recruiting class as well. This is the benefit of getting off to a hot start in this year’s cycle. The Buckeyes have two verbal commitments in the 2027 class already with four-star athlete Jamier Brown, the No. 1 recruit from Ohio, and four-star quarterback Brady Edmunds.
The Buckeyes will continue to add to this class and put in work Monday in efforts to do so by dishing out a couple of scholarship offers. The first offer was to four-star offensive tackle Oluwasemilore Olubobola (Jersey City, NJ / St. Peter’s Prep). Offensive tackle is a position the Buckeyes are making a priority in next year’s class as Olubobola makes the seventh recruit offered by the Buckeyes at the position.
Olubobola is the No. 11 OT in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and is the No. 105 overall recruit. He is also the No. 2 recruit out of New Jersey.
The next recruit to announce they had received an official scholarship offer from Ohio State was four-star OT Sidney Rouleau (Pennington, NJ / The Pennington School). Like Olubobola, Rouleau is another New Jersey OT and he makes now eight total recruits offered as the position.
Rouleau is the No. 22 OT in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and he is the No. 212 overall recruit. He is also the No. 5 recruit in New Jersey.
