BREAKING: Miami Lands Commitment from Offensive Lineman Joel Ervin
The University of Miami football program has secured a major commitment for its 2026 recruiting class with the addition of offensive lineman Joel Ervin. The highly touted prospect from Fort Myers, Florida, made his pledge to the Hurricanes on March 29, 2025, announcing that he would be joining Miami’s future offensive line. Ervin, who stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs over 300 pounds, brings a blend of size, skill, and versatility that will greatly benefit the Hurricanes.
Ervin had originally committed to Louisville in early March but decided to reopen his recruitment after taking visits to Miami and Florida State. After considering his options, Ervin made the call to shut down his recruitment and commit to the Hurricanes, citing that he felt at home in Miami. His commitment is a significant win for head coach Mario Cristobal, who has been focused on building depth along the offensive line.
Ervin is coming off a stellar high school career at Fort Myers High School, where he played as a dominant force on the offensive line. He started at left tackle for the Green Wave and was a key contributor to their success, helping the team reach the playoffs in back-to-back seasons. Ervin was named to The News-Press 2024 All-Area Offensive First Team and played a major role in his team’s district championship win. His ability to protect the quarterback and open up running lanes for the offense earned him widespread recognition.
Ranked as a three-star prospect, Ervin is currently the No. 100 player in Florida and the No. 60 offensive tackle nationally. His commitment further strengthens Miami’s recruiting efforts, especially in the trenches, where Cristobal has made it a priority to add talent. Ervin’s commitment is expected to have a ripple effect, possibly attracting more top recruits to consider the Hurricanes in the coming months.
