Warrick Dunn Returns to Florida State as Director of Player Development
Tallahassee, FL – Florida State football legend Warrick Dunn is making a triumphant return to his alma mater, this time off the field. According to an ESPN report, Dunn has been appointed as the Seminoles’ new Director of Player Development, a move that has excited fans, alumni, and players alike.
Dunn, one of the most beloved figures in Florida State history, was a standout running back for the Seminoles from 1993 to 1996. He played a crucial role in helping FSU secure its first-ever national championship in 1993 and remains one of the program’s all-time leading rushers. His electrifying speed, leadership, and determination made him a household name in college football, leading to a successful 12-year NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons.
In his new role, Dunn will focus on mentoring players both on and off the field, guiding them through the challenges of collegiate athletics and preparing them for life after football. The position aligns perfectly with his long-standing commitment to helping young athletes develop as professionals and individuals.
“I’m honored to return to Florida State in this capacity,” Dunn said in a statement. “This program has given me so much, and now I have the chance to give back by helping these young men grow, not just as athletes but as people.”
Since retiring from the NFL, Dunn has been widely recognized for his philanthropy, particularly through his Warrick Dunn Charities, which has provided homes for single-parent families. His leadership, work ethic, and dedication to community service make him an ideal fit for this role at Florida State.
The Seminoles, coming off a strong season, see Dunn’s return as a boost to the program’s culture and development efforts. Head coach Mike Norvell called Dunn a “pillar of excellence” and said his presence would be invaluable.
With Dunn back in Tallahassee, Florida State’s future looks even brighter—both on the field and beyond.
