During Tiger Talk on Monday, head coach Hugh Freeze revealed that redshirt freshman Hank Brown will be the official second man in the quarterback room, sitting behind Payton Thorne. This affects not just the starters but also the backups.

The Tigers have a lot of young talent on the team, which exposes a lack of crucial experience. While Auburn attempts to load up in the quarterback rotation, it is imperative that it has a guy on deck should Thorne go down.

After playing little previous season, including in the team’s 31–13 loss to Maryland at the TransPerfect Music City Bowl, Brown is starting his second full season with the squad.

Although Brown entered the game during garbage time, he went 7-for-9 and threw for 132 yards, demonstrating his talent should he be called upon to play.

If the Tigers get a significant enough lead over any of their opponents, the highly regarded quarterback from Nashville, Tennessee, might be spotted in the early going of the 2024 season.

Auburn’s season begins on August 31 at Jordan-Hare Stadium at 6:30 p.m. CST against the Alabama A&M Bulldogs.
