Mike Tomlin reveals decision reached between Russell Wilson and Justin Fields as Steelers starting quarterback.

Head coach Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) has decided who will start at quarterback in Sunday’s Week 7 home game against the New York Jets (2-4). The offense has struggled as a whole, despite Fields’ improvement from his stint with the Chicago Bears (4-2). Pittsburgh has the 26th-ranked offense in the NFL, averaging only 298.3 yards per game. The defense has led the way, giving up only 14.3 points per game. Fields has thrown for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception on 66.3% of his passes. His legs have saved the Steelers at times, as he has ran for 231 yards and five touchdowns.

Wilson was named the starter over Fields before reaggravating his calf injury and could be poised to reclaim his spot against New York. That, of course, will be revealed whenever Tomlin decides. Wilson, who was active for the first time this season in Week 6, said he’s “preparing to get ready to go” as the Steelers’ starter on Sunday.

“I’m more myself physically, being up and running and all that stuff, so I feel good,” Wilson said Thursday. “… You want to be able to move around, and I’ve never missed a game before, so that has been a difficulty in itself.
