Which teams will Florida State football’s transfer departures play for in 2024?

Florida State football has been consistently successful in the Transfer Portal, attracting outstanding players in recent years.
The Seminoles have had their fair share of transfer departures as well — but there haven’t been many success stories for the players who have exited the program via the portal over the last few years.
Will this year, with over two dozen transfer departures for the Seminoles, be the year for some former players to establish names for themselves at their new schools?
Here’s a summary of where each transfer wound up and how they’re doing at their new school:
According to the Hattiesburg American, after Southern Miss’ first fall camp scrimmage, Tate Rodemaker has the lead at quarterback. He is fighting with two other signal callers for the QB1 position. The report stated that Rodemaker completed 10 of 16 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns during the scrimmage. It appears that Rodemaker will lead the Golden Eagles’ offensive in 2024.

In a report describing a EA Sports CFB25 event, the East Village Times described AJ Duffy as the ‘leading candidate’ to start at quarterback for the Aztecs this fall. Duffy served in a very limited role during his time in Tallahassee but under new head coach Sean Lewis’ passing attack, he could thrive.
Rodney Hill, a running back, is set to begin his third year of college football after transferring from Florida State to Miami and FAMU before joining Arkansas. On August 16, Hill was listed as the No. 2 running back on Arkansas’ depth chart following the 15th fall camp practice. Hill is expected to play RB3 if Ja’Quinden Jackson, a transfer from Utah, is healthy when the season begins.
Vandrevius Jacobs transferred to South Carolina after just one season at Florida State. The Gamecocks’ need for a wide receiver was a major factor in his recruitment. As a result, Jacobs could get starting-caliber snaps in his sophomore year of collegiate football. He has made a strong impression at South Carolina’s fall camp and is competing for a starting position.
Lawrance returned to Tallahassee after transferring to UCF in the winter then left the Knights in the spring through the portal. However, he will play for FAMU in the 2024 season. He played no games for the Seminoles during his one season at FSU. We’ll see what he can do for the Rattlers going ahead. Joshua Burrell expected to graduate from Florida State in the spring before registering for the Transfer Portal during the winter window. He later transferred to Furman for the 2024 season.Winston Wright led an interesting career at Florida State. He suffered a terrible leg injury in a car accident during his first few months on college, preventing him from playing in the 2022 season. He returned in 2023, but his injury kept him from returning to full strength, and despite receiving a good burn at the start of the year, Wright declares his decision to use the Trasfer Portal during the season. He is presently at East Carolina, and he appears to be performing well. Below is an excerpt from a recent ECU practice report on Wright:
*** There are some guys on the practice field that just have a presence about them. Winston Wright Jr. is one of those. Maybe it’s the visor. Maybe it’s the serious attitude he carries himself with. But he just has the “it” factor to him, it feels like. I’m looking forward to seeing him on game days this fall.
Tight endMarkeston Douglas left Florida State to pursue a more prominent role in the offense. He appears to have found it at Arizona State, as he is currently running alongside the Sun Devils during practice. Thomas Shrader transferred from Florida State after the 2023 season due to a lack of starting opportunities. After enrolling at App State, he appeared to be a top candidate for the offensive line starting position. According to the Watauga Democrat, Shrader appears to be the Mountaineers’ starting guard.Bless Harris was a starter at offensive lineman for the Seminoles, but injuries limited his playing time. He transferred out during the offseason and ended up at TCU.He appears to be in position to start as left tackle for the Horn Frogs. Qae’shon Sapp transferred to SMU after a semester at East Carolina. He still had three years of eligibility. There isn’t much information available about how he’s doing in fall camp for the Mustangs, but he’s likely to fill in at offensive tackle in the future.
