Cesare Casadei has endured some controversial years at Chelsea since joining from Inter Milan in the summer of 2022.
The 21-year-old played more than 10 games for the Blues and was close to leaving the club, possibly on loan, in the
summer but ultimately chose to remain at Stamford Bridge. Although he is yet to play in the Premier League this season
and has not been selected by the manager, Casadei said in an interview with Tuttosport that Enzo Maresca
played a key role in keeping him at Chelsea. As reported by Calciomercato newspaper, he said:
“I was excited when I saw Maresca coming to Stamford Bridge this summer. “Since he was my coach in the first six
months of last season in Leicester City, we already knew themselves.”
He was also asked about the speculation surrounding his future in the summer.
Italians say: Maresca told me her idea, I had no doubts.
“I stayed here without considering the possibility of a loan. And I don’t think that will happen in the winter transfer window.
“I couldn’t be more proud to play for Chelsea. Competitiveness was one of the reasons I decided not to retire. ”
At Leicester City, under manager Maresca, Casady made 25 appearances in all competitions but was not a regular
starter there, which is understandable given his young age. The situation is different at the London club, with the
Blues having more options in the final third and midfield.
If Casady does not get the minutes he needs to develop, despite Maresca’s support, he could be on the verge of leaving, even on loan.
