Since new owners took over at Chelsea a few seasons ago, the club has been focused on signing as much young talent as possible from around the world.
They wanted to get a head start in their efforts to attract this young talent before they become too good and too expensive. Of course, even if it has a great risk,
it’s a reasonable way to do something. Many Chelsea has been criticized for being rusted by working like this, but they will comply and will comply in
the future. It’s certainly a new transfer strategy, but Chelsea have balanced it recently by signing more established players, such as summer additions Jadon Sancho, Pedro Neto and Joao Felix.
I think signing a player before he becomes the next big name is smart and could certainly work. Speaking on X Spaces last night, insider Ben Jacobs said
Chelsea are trying to be as international as possible in their efforts to find young talent, using African scouts and in places where they may not be as sought after.
Again, this is a very smart move and by going into more untapped territory, it could put them ahead of their rivals in the quest for more top talent from
around the world. Only time will tell whether this strategy will fully justify itself and whether it will find application on the field.
