Chelsea brought in recruiters this week to keep an eye on Hellas Verona midfielder Reda Birhane and Olympique de Marseille.
Tuttomers Webb can reveal that Chelsea and Marseille “observers” were in attendance at Italy’s match against Juventus on Friday night.
They explain that Behane has performed well at the start of the season since his January move from Nice.
He has improved particularly rapidly since August, becoming a “steadfast starter” in Paolo Zanetti’s lineup.
He also received a 6.5 rating, according to the website, despite the 3-0 defeat to Juventus.
Chelsea are keeping tabs on him as they continue to develop and continue to recruit young talent from around the world.
The 20-year-old certainly fits the bill and appears to be catching attention in Italy at an early stage, certainly big enough to attract Chelsea scouts.
Interestingly, he bases his style on former Chelsea favourite N’Golo Kante and admits the Frenchman is his idol.
That’s something we’re sure will have Blues fans urging their club to make a move.
“The number 6 is that of a midfielder, in my opinion it represents solid players who scratch the ball away from their
opponents, but also know how to keep it,” he said. For me, it’s my style of play. I really like his team spirit. He’s always so
calm off the field too. But when he steps on the field, he is a role model for me ever since I was a kid.
