Manager Enzo Maresca is likely to make significant changes to his Chelsea line-up for this weekend’s game against Nottingham Forest.
A much-changed team beat Genk in midweek, but the regular starters will be ready to return to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Chelsea have won four and drawn one of their last five Premier League games and will be hoping to continue their good form against
Forest with another win which would keep the pressure on leaders Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal.
Forest have also started well, losing just one of their opening six games. They beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last season and will be hoping to repeat
that result and improve their chances of finishing in the top half. Express Sport looks at how Chelsea might fare against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
Goalkeeper – Sanchez
Robert Sanchez has firmly established himself as Chelsea’s number one after being in and out of the team last season.
George Petrovich ended his previous campaign as a favorite option, but since then he has overturned his Spanish teammates.
Sanchez wants to store the third white sheet in the first season in a powerful show between sticks to the forest.
Defense – Gusto, Fofana, Colville, Cucurella
Reece James is currently the only injured defender on Chelsea’s list and has yet to return to full fitness.
This means Malo Gusto will continue to play on the right, with Marc Cucurella on the opposite flank.
Despite conceding two goals against Brighton last weekend, Wesley Fofana seems likely to partner Levi Colwill in midfield.
Midfield – Caicedo, Fernandez, Palmer
Moises Caicedo has had a fantastic start to the season and will almost certainly keep his place in midfield.
He will be joined by Enzo Fernandes, who has started every Premier League game this season.
Cole Palmer scored four goals last time out against Brighton and will be hoping to get on the scoresheet again
after missing out in the Conference League win over Gent.
Attack – Madueke, Sancho, Jackson
Noni Madueke and Jadon Sancho are likely to fill Chelsea’s wide positions.
Both players are capable of scoring goals and providing assists. Sancho is still waiting for his chance to play for
the Blues, but will be looking to open the scoring against Forest.
Nicolas Jackson, meanwhile, should feature as the central striker to complete a full-strength attacking line-up for Chelsea.
