Chelsea left-back Jan Maatsen reportedly remains Borussia Dortmund’s priority in this summer’s transfer window,
with the Bundesliga giants preparing to make a bid for his permanent signature. Maatsen shone on loan at Dortmund,
helping them reach the Champions League final, unexpectedly knocking out big names like Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid.
The Dutchman could become an excellent addition to Dortmund in the long term, even if he did his best to prove
himself in Chelsea and the German journalist Patrick Berger. The good news for Dortmund is that the Matens want to
join them only, so for the Blues, it can make it difficult to try the player’s auction to see if someone else offers the best money.
We still do not know how this transaction will be reduced with Chelsea fans, because Mattens can be better than
the current options they have in left protection. Ben Chilwell has been inconsistent and injury-prone and
Mark Cucurella, despite a recent improvement in form, has largely disappointed since arriving from Brighton.
Maatsen has performed well at Dortmund and it’s no surprise that they want to keep him, but perhaps CFC
should think twice before bringing the 22-year-old into their first team next season.
Meanwhile, the west London giants could make a huge profit by letting Maassen leave, allowing them to focus on
acquiring players in other areas of the squad where they believe they need more strength, making it more commercially viable.
From that point of view, it could be a wise choice. urgently. But overall, BVB often find talented young players at cheap prices,
so it seems like a smart deal if they can pull this off.
