Mauricio Pochettino has hinted at the number of transfers he wants to make at Chelsea this summer.
The Blues defeated Bournemouth 2-1 on Sunday in their final Premier League game of the season.
Moizes Kaedo and Rahim Sterling scored goals, which inflicted three points for Chelsea.
The blues ended the season in the sixth place in the premiere -Liga table, ahead of Newcasl and Manchester United.
Chelsea will be playing European football next season, with the result of the FA Cup final determining whether
they will play in the Europa League or the Europa Conference League. If Manchester City wins,
Chelsea will qualify for next season’s Europa League. If Man United win the trophy, they will replace the Blues in the competition,
while Chelsea will enter the Europa Conference League. Pochettino was asked to look forward to
this summer and next season after the win against Bournemouth. Asked if the Blues boss needs to do more work with
Chelsea’s squad on signing new players, Pochettino suggested he would try to keep “80 to 85 per cent” of his current squad.
“We can always improve,” Pochettino told reporters on Sunday. “Next season they’ll be even better because
they’ll have a year of experience, tough experience. That’s the benefit of being solid and consistent and not making too many changes.”
“If we can keep 80 to 85 per cent of the squad next season, this would of course be a big step forward because
we are talking about continuity of ideas and knowledge between teams, which is important for the club.”
When asked if he plans to make further transfers, Pochettino declined to say what he expects from this summer.
“It’s a club decision,” the Chelsea manager said. “As has been the case from the beginning, we will be there to help, and if not, we will do our job.”
