Chelsea are exploring the possibility of signing Crisencio Summerville from Leeds United this summer as they look to further strengthen their attack, reports Football.London.
Summerville has built a reputation as a “promising and exciting striker” with a stellar campaign at Elland Road, where he has scored 21 goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions this season.
Leeds are forced to let players go on Financial Fair Play grounds if they fail to reach the Premier League, according to reports, and it is believed that Stamford Bridge are interested in Somerville.
Somerville is valued at £30m and is also on Liverpool’s transfer list, meaning Chelsea will face competition.
However, the report explained that it was useless. Chelsea’s complete evaluation of his possible signature was as follows.
“In this environment, summer buildings feel a little useless. Even as a promising and exciting person, this is not the current lack of blues. What you haven’t worked for at this stage may seem like a bad business, but it cannot be driven”.
Crysencio Summerville is one of the main names of EFL championships, expecting him to play the Prime Minister of the next season, regardless of whether he plays on the cover.
Chelsea need to add depth on the flanks as in the current squad there are only three available wingers, namely Mykhaylo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and Raheem Sterling.
Moreover, Mauricio Pochettino has found goals hard to come by from the wide areas this year and he would welcome a different profile to join next
season to add a layer of dynamism in his roster as well as to alleviate some burden off Cole Palmer. Chelsea, like Leeds, could also be a target for FFP in terms of
their spending, meaning the west Londoners would have to sell players before signing anyone this summer.
However, as Football.London suggests, Somerville could be an interesting addition as he would be more than just a ‘wasted £30m transfer’.
