Fabrizio Romano says clubs are ready to try to sign Leeds United star Crisencio Somerville despite his links to Chelsea.
Transfer experts told a regular press conference on May 20 that nothing has been announced regarding a summer
move for the Dutch striker, but that a number of clubs are monitoring him ahead of a potential move. . Somerville is
set to join a top club at the end of the season and Chelsea are also likely to be interested in him, but a move away from Elland Road is not imminent.
In a column for the Daily Briefing, he said: “Although he remains at Chelsea, they are one of the names linked with
talented Leeds United young striker Crisencio Somerville. “The race is open, but nothing is close at the moment. There
are so many clubs chasing him – we already reported about Liverpool last month, but certainly Somerville will get a
chance at a top club in the summer. The hope is that, but again, nothing is close at this point.”
Many Leeds United players have surprised supporters and pundits this season, but few in Daniel Farke’s side
have been as impressive as Somerville, who set the league on fire at Elland Road. The Dutchman has gone from strength to
strength in the Leeds shirt with excellent performances throughout the campaign and it is only natural for teams to consider a summer move.
A lot could depend on whether the madridistas succeed in gaining promotion to the Premier League
through the play-offs. If Farke’s side miss the game against Southampton, they will have to sell most of their best players, and Somerville falls into that category.
