Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke says Cole Palmer would never have won a trophy if he had left Chelsea for Arsenal.
Palmer has hit the ground running in his first season at Chelsea since joining from Manchester City for £40m last summer, scoring 23 goals in all competitions so far.
However, Chelsea have struggled for consistency this season, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side currently in ninth place in the Premier League, 19 points out of the top four.
However, Yorke insists Palmer should not leave Chelsea after just one season and believes there is no guarantee the 21-year-old will win trophies elsewhere.
There’s no point in Cole Palmer leaving Chelsea for Arsenal because they won’t win trophies either, so it won’t make any difference,” Yorke told Cryptocasino LTD.
He will not go to Liverpool, who are under a new manager and team. Palmer must stay at Chelsea and be the leader of the club, build his reputation and be the one to take the club forward.
“Sometimes players can quickly move on to better or bigger clubs, but they can be the main people who take those clubs to the next level.
At Liverpool, he will never be a bigger player than Mo Salah or Virgil van Dijk.
“My advice to Palmer is to stay at Chelsea. If you imagine Zinedine Zidane going to Chelsea next year and Palmer leaving, it won’t work out for him.

“I would like Manchester United to sign him, but I don’t think it will happen given his relationship with Manchester City. He is too young to handle it.
“And it’s still his first full professional season. Let’s see if we can do that in a few years.”
