Chelsea have activated a contract extension clause for one of the club’s players, according to reports.
The news was reported by the Evening Standard, which said the clause had come into force,
although there was still plenty of time to reach an agreement. This belief has been clear since Todd Boley took over the club.
The club offers long-term contracts to players who join the club in order to achieve this clear project.
Of course, there’s a lot of discussion about what the Blues will do if any of these players become dissatisfied with their situation,
with reports coming out earlier this season suggesting that could happen. . They claimed that Enzo Fernandes,
previously the club’s highest-paid player, became dissatisfied with his position just over a year after joining the club.
The player himself deliberately celebrated his goal against Aston Villa in the FA Cup, putting on a performance
that reminded everyone how important he is to the team, putting the issue aside.
This is the same competition that rival Mateo Josef described as “world class” earlier this season.
This may be reflected in the club reportedly offering him another year’s contract extension.
The story further states that the same thing happened to Mikhail Mudryk, who still had enough time to fulfill the original contract.
This shows the club still believe there is a future in their two most expensive signings of the Boeri era.
It remains to be seen how the club will respond in the next transfer window, when money is likely to be spent anyway,
although the club’s management appear to be looking to bridge the gap in his eight-year contract.
This is, of course, apart from the fact that they have managed to sell a number of first-team players in order to balance their previous spending.
