Chelsea’s youngster was spotted training with the first team ahead of their return to the Premier League against Manchester United.
This is shown in the photo on the 5th Stand app and could mean he has a chance to shine to some degree in
this match given the injury issues in the team at the moment. Of all the fallout from this weekend’s tough draw with Burnley,
perhaps the worst moment came minutes before the end, when the score was already 2-2.
Maro Gusto left the pitch with an apparent hamstring injury and appears to have joined right-back Reece James on the treatment table.
With the game so close at the moment, there is a real possibility that the youngster will feature tomorrow night.
Josh Achiampong has been in the lineup several times this season due to injuries that have plagued the defense so far.
The 17-year-old has featured for the Under-18s all season, scoring one goal and providing three assists as a right-back.
Attacking threat has been key at the back for Chelsea this season and the arrival of Acheampong will no doubt help maintain that balance going forward.
The idea appears to have at least crossed the mind of manager Mauricio Pochettino, who is taking part in first-team training ahead of United’s visit.
It remains to be seen whether Gusteau will return to tomorrow’s game, but he was pictured among the players training in the gym before the game.
However, he was unable to get on the pitch, which could mean the manager needs to rethink things to secure a first Premier League win against United in seven years.
