Pau Kvarsi has enjoyed one of the most impressive seasons in Europe, playing for Xavi’s Barcelona team since
Christmas and looking far more developed and composed for a 17-year-old.
He was awarded the Man of the Match award for his performance in the
Champions League last week and is making his first appearance for Spain’s senior team.
According to a report in Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea have shown great
interest in him and even tried to sign him to their team last summer.
We’re obviously “still open” to signing him right now, but given his explosion on the scene,
it’s going to be a whole different challenge.
His transfer fee has skyrocketed since his debut, and there is a much clearer path to the first team over there than here.
However, thanks to Barcelona’s financial problems, there is always an opportunity.
Until they convince him to sign a new contract, his release clause will remain set at around 10 million euros.
