Chelsea will be hoping to bounce back from this week’s defeat to Liverpool when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge tonight.
It was a truly terrible performance for Chelsea, losing 4-1 to Jurgen Klopp’s men.
But there is at least one positive to take from this game: Christopher Nkunku should start after scoring at Anfield this afternoon.
Nkunku hasn’t played much for Chelsea this season due to injury, but is clearly the Blues’ most dangerous striker.
The Frenchman has scored two goals in four Premier League games and was very good in his last game against Liverpool when he did it himself.
In Nkunku’s best football season, he scored 35 goals in 52 matches.
Now that the 26-year-old is fit again, Mauricio Pochettino cannot afford to leave him on the bench.
If Nkunku wants to move the team to Wolves, he will have to cut someone, Noni Madueke is the logical candidate.
The England U21 international failed to make much of an impact against Liverpool.
His return allows Cole Palmer to return to his right-wing position, although the same goes for the rest of the team’s forwards.
But most importantly, Pochettino will create space for Nkunku.
The Blues need a goal to beat Gary O’Neill’s side and still qualify for Europe.
And looking at their squad, Nkunku is one of the few players who has shown he can bring that.
Let’s hope the France international can stay fit for the rest of the season.
