Mauricio Pochettino held a press conference ahead of tomorrow’s match between Chelsea and Liverpool and the Blues manager confirmed that the injury news for both players is good.
Pochettino said Christopher Nkunku and Marlo Gusto are in the squad for at least tomorrow’s game and both have a chance to start. They’ve all had injury problems this season, but the team looks a lot better because of them.
“I think it’s good news that Marlo Gusteau and Christophe will join the national team tomorrow,” Pochettino said. “We will see. We always wait for the last moment. This is good news for now. I think Nico Jackson will join when we get there tomorrow.
Pochettino has also hinted that Jackson could join, but that seems unlikely. Even if we fly to England today, there won’t be enough time to prepare for tomorrow night’s game.
Chelsea fans received some good injury news this afternoon in the form of an update on Levi Colville from Simon Johnson.
The defender was selected for Aston Villa on Friday night but did not play in the game after being left out of the squad after the warm-up.
The bad news is that Levi Colville will miss the game after picking up a minor injury while preparing for Friday night’s game against Aston Villa. Instead, Ben Chilwell could join the team.
There were concerns that he might injure his knee, but Johnson’s report to The Athletic suggests that Colville’s problem is not serious.
He may not be back for Wednesday’s game against Liverpool, but it looks like it will be the only game he misses, even if it is just as a precaution. Ben Chilwell started on Tuesday night for the first time in months and had Friday off.
He is fit to start against Liverpool but is unlikely to last the full 90 games as the club are keen to treat him carefully after years of injury.
