Chelsea are tracking Montpellier striker Akor Adams ahead of a potential move, according to a report from Graham Bailey.
A reporter told HTC on Sunday that the 24-year-old Nigerian striker is being closely watched by Chelsea scouts.
Montpellier played Lille in the French league and the Blues took the lead against Adams.
The striker moved to Montpellier from Lillestrom at the start of the season and has performed well for the French side.
Adams has scored seven goals in 19 league games so far this season and his performances have caught the attention of the west London giants.
It’s no secret that Chelsea need a good striker and Adams could be a lucrative signing.
The Blues signed Nicolas Jackson at the start of the season in a bid to help solve their goalscoring woes, but the former La Liga star has disappointed so far.
Chelsea need to secure an upgrade and it remains to be seen if they will move for Adams at the end of the season.
Montpellier are under no pressure to sell him this month and a January move looks unlikely.
He has a contract with the French club until the summer of 2027. According to Football Insider, the striker’s deal would cost at least £15 million.
Chelsea have the financial means to pay the reported fee and could officially show interest if Adams impresses for Montpellier in the second half of the season.
Chelsea may regret not making a move this winter as the asking price could easily rise in the summer depending on the player’s performance next month.
The Nigerian striker is attracted to the idea of playing in the Premier League next season. Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in the world.
The academy graduate is attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs who could offer him a late move this week.
