Journalist Ben Jacobs now claims that Chelsea are interested in signing two players in the final minutes of the January transfer window.
He said the Blues still have the chance to add two strikers to Simon Phillips’ sub-stack before the end of the month.
It is clear to everyone that the striker is at the top of the list of players the club would like to sign.
Victor Osimhen has been identified as a top target by many at Stamford Bridge, including manager Mauricio Pochettino.
However, he won’t be available until the end of this season and many believe the issue should be resolved before then.
Current options Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja look unconvincing, and the latter appears to be for sale.
The academy graduate is attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs who could offer him a late move this week.
While this is happening, it seems that signing a striker this month has not yet been ruled out.
Jacobs said several names are being considered for the two potential signings.
“I wouldn’t rule out Brighton approaching Evan Ferguson,” he said. I’m told there will most likely be two attackers.
One is permanent and the other is young. Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is another possibility.
Ferguson has been a target for the Blues for a long time and is starting to show what he can do in the Premier League on a regular basis.
However, signing him from Brighton would cost around £100m and they might be better off spending it on an experienced striker like Osimhen.
