Christopher Nkunku: Nkunku has been sidelined since the start of the month with a groin injury. Now back in training, he is not ready in time for the match against Aston Villa but is expected to be fit for Liverpool.
“We will have to see how he develops in the future,” Mauricio Pochettino said last week. Potential return date: Wednesday 31 January and Liverpool.
Levi Colville: Chelsea suffered a major scare ahead of their FA Cup tie against Aston Villa, with Colville left out of the XI due to warm-up issues. But his injuries don’t seem serious.
“We don’t think it’s that bad,” the coach said after the game. It was a small problem and he felt uncomfortable. I hope he trains tomorrow or the day after.” Estimated return date: Wednesday, January 31 – Liverpool.
Trevor Chalobach: This month we got a positive update on Chalobah’s efforts to make his first appearance of the season.
The defender has returned to training but there is speculation he could be moved before the transfer deadline. Estimated return date: February 2024.
Romeo Labia: Pochettino described himself as “a bit worried” after Rabia’s long-awaited arrival at Chelsea was held up by a groin injury.
His return schedule has not yet been announced. Estimated Return Date: Unknown.
Lee James: James underwent spinal surgery on Christmas Eve and was given a four-month timetable to return.
