Liverpool are looking for a new defender in January and remain interested in Chelsea youngster Levi Colville.
The 20-year-old has quickly established himself in Mauricio Pochettino’s first team, appearing in all but one of Chelsea’s 27 games this season and starting 23 of them.
He was hoping for big things after impressive loan spells at Huddersfield and Brighton and is currently waiting to feature in England’s Euro 2024 squad after making his international debut last October.
Liverpool, Brighton, Manchester City and Tottenham were all interested in Colville last summer, but Pochettino was determined to keep him and signed a new contract until 2029.
However, according to talkSPORT, United are continuing to monitor Colville’s situation and could take steps to strengthen their defence.
Joel Matip is ruled out for the rest of the season, left-backs Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas remain out with shoulder injuries and Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to recover from a knee injury. End of the month.
With the Premier League leaders’ fixture list fast approaching, there is clearly a need for a new full-back and Colville would be particularly attractive as he can challenge Jurgen Klopp at both centre-back and left-back.
However, there is no indication that Chelsea are willing to sell him, but any sale would be a net gain as he is a homegrown player. That would be one way to balance the books of Todd Boehly and others.
They are concerned about breaching FFP rules and because of that, homegrown stars Conor Gallagher and Armando Broya have also been linked with an exit.
Broza has been linked with a £35m move to Fulham, West Ham and Wolves, while captain Gallagher is set to leave with 18 months left on his contract.Amidst a crisis of defense injuries, Liverpool is interested in signing Chelsea player Levi Colwill.
Meanwhile, Colville could be looking for a win in Chelsea’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.
