Chelsea want to bring Napoli forward Victor Osimhen to Stamford Bridge this year. Victor Osimhen is Chelsea’s main target, but signing him will not be easy. According to the Evening Standard, he recently put pen to paper on a new contract which includes a £112m release clause.
Who can Chelsea turn to if they don’t want to pay that money or miss out on Osimhen for whatever reason? The correct answer is Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
Sky Germany’s Philipp Hinze recently revealed that Sesco’s contract includes a €50m (£43m) release clause which will take effect in the summer. Honestly, at this price and potential, the 20-year-old could be a steal.
Cesco has not been very productive in the Bundesliga this season, scoring just three goals in 15 games. However, he has scored more goals in the Champions League and has been compared to Erling Haaland.
At 6ft 4in, the Slovenian is as tall as a Premier League centre-forward and still has plenty of time to develop into a more productive number nine.
An experienced and proven striker like Osimhen will be Chelsea’s main target this summer. The Blues have Nicholas Jackson, 22, who has shown plenty of ferocity this season. He scored a lot and missed many chances. And if Chelsea can’t land Osimhen or Ivan Toni, Cesco doesn’t seem like the worst alternative.
The 23-year-old added: “The balance is a bit confusing as we try to do everything we can for the rest of the season to qualify for the Champions League.
We are still in the FA Cup and the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final is coming up. “There’s a peace of mind that there’s still time and proper accountability through training to do your best and having a positive attitude. We’ve got a great team.”
Mauricio Pochettino would ideally want someone with Osimhen’s experience, but with this being a tough player market, Cesco could be left out.
