Chelsea are set to give the green light to a £35m summer move for Armando Broja this month. The Albanian striker has struggled to find form since returning from a serious knee injury and Chelsea are now ready to offload him in a bid to balance things out.
There are currently no permanent offers among potential suitors due to financial fair play issues, but the Blues have a solution.
According to The Sun, the London giants are prepared to keep Broja on loan amid interest from Wolves and Fulham. But Chelsea want a mandatory release clause worth £35million to be included in any deal by the summer.
They agreed a similar move when Lewis Hall joined Newcastle United last summer. Broha has made 17 appearances for the Blues this season but has scored just two goals.
One of them was the FA Cup third round match against Preston North End. By comparison, Nicholas Jackson scored eight goals in 23 games for Chelsea, but was guilty of missing some clear scoring opportunities.
Chelsea are unlikely to sign a new striker this month due to financial fair play, but allowing Broza to leave would free up space and budget for a new leader.
The west Londoners have received invitations to some of their top strikers, including Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toni.
Broza’s sale at the new price would net Chelsea £35m, giving them significant resources to spend on a new leader. With a new striker unlikely to arrive this month, Chelsea will have to take it easy for now.
Jackson returns to the squad after playing at the Africa Cup of Nations for Senegal, while Chelsea also have Christopher Nkunku.
Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer have also used the false number 9 to great effect this campaign. With four options available, manager Mauricio Pochettino will not rule out Broza leaving for a suitable offer this winter.
£35 million seems like a lot of money for a young striker who plays regularly for another club and has the potential to become a top striker. He scored nine goals while on loan at Southampton a few years ago.
