Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic has admitted he was a bit surprised by teammate Cole Palmer’s performance this season.
The club has had some bad signings in recent years, but Djordje Petrovic and Cole Palmer are among the big hits.
Palmer’s emergence in particular has been a revelation since joining from arch-rivals Manchester City last summer.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder quickly became a star at Stamford Bridge. He currently has 12 goals and 10 assists in 32 games for Chelsea.
Petrovic, 24, is full of praise for Blues playmaker Palmer. Asked which Chelsea player was underrated, Petrovic told Sky Sports:
“Before I signed for Chelsea, it was Cole [Palmer]. To be honest, I don’t think I’ve given him this much. I wasn’t expecting the goal and assist. Now he’s showing quality.”
We agree that Palmer’s colors at Chelsea have exceeded all expectations.
The current transfer fee of £40 million (Sky Sports) would seem like a lot of money.
This season in west London, Palmer’s influence has been praised everywhere it has been sought. Do not forget that he is only 21 years old.
If Chelsea can get their season back in the final third, we expect Palmer to be at the center of any success thanks to his technical ability and efficiency.
Whether he starts on the right wing, as a number 10 or as a false nine, he just makes an impact in every game.
In our opinion, he has done more than enough to push into Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024 this summer. We believe the best is yet to come.
