Chelsea’s future could come in the form of young talent brought in by Ballon d’Or winner Todd Bohli.
One of Chelsea’s brightest prospects could become one of the best players in the world in the next decade.
Todd Bohli joins the ranks of the South American prodigies with a focus on signing high-potential players.
Andrey Santos was first, followed by Angelo Gabriel, David Washington and Kendry Paez.
Paes, 16, is not yet officially a Chelsea player but has agreed to join the Blues after he turns 18 in May 2025.
And the creative Ecuadorian midfielder, who costs just over 17 million euros and can also play as a striker, has a particularly high ceiling.
Left Foot’s name is five letters long and there are many great words for his name.
Paez became the youngest player (16 years, 161 days) to score for Ecuador against Bolivia in last year’s CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers.
This comes after he became the youngest debutant and goalscorer in Ecuador’s top league at the age of 15.
Now, the Independiente del Valle teenager has been named Ecuador’s best young player and best attacking midfielder.
He was also named in the Team of the Year in Ecuador’s Serie A, also known as Liga Pro.
Paez’s agent, Manuel Sierra, has great faith in the player. He told AS last week: “I don’t know if I’ll ever have a monster talent like Kendry Paez in my lifetime.
Today it has 50%, 60% of its potential. . For me, he is someone who, if not the Ballon d’Or, could be very close to him in the next six, seven, eight years.
“I think he can be one of the best people in the world. It has everything. He is ready to succeed.
As long as everything goes well, keep a cool head and take care of yourself, you can become very big. Everyone works around him and he has a great team, including his parents.
“I think we are doing very well. I hope he has all the qualifications to be one of Chelsea’s most important players in July 2025 and we are working towards that.”
And Paez’s recent achievements further highlight the excitement surrounding the player known as Ecuador’s jewel. He said of his hype:
“I don’t feel any pressure. I just have to keep working and focus on my studies. I’m excited to join Chelsea, but now I’m focused on Independiente del Valle.
“I have two years left, I know it will go by quickly and I will continue to work here. My name is Kendry and I named him Ecuador.
I will remain myself. [Lionel] I don’t want to be compared to Messi. He is very special and the best.
