The University of Florida men’s swimming and diving team had a sensational performance on Day 2 of the 2025 NCAA Championships, claiming two national titles and solidifying their position as one of the top programs in collegiate swimming. The Gators’ dominance in the pool was on full display as they won in both the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 1-meter springboard event, marking a historic moment in the program’s history.

In the first event of the day, the Florida men’s 200-yard freestyle relay team, composed of anchor swimmer Kieran Smith, along with his teammates, posted a stunning time of 1:17.92. The Gators outpaced their competition, including strong teams from Texas and Cal, who finished second and third, respectively. This victory added to the Gators’ growing collection of relay championships, and the time set a new pool record, further showcasing their speed and efficiency.

Later in the day, Florida’s standout diver, Ethan Ferguson, clinched the 1-meter springboard national title with a remarkable performance. His series of dives earned him a total score of 442.45 points, narrowly edging out the defending champion from Texas. This victory marked Ferguson’s first NCAA title and cemented his place as one of the top divers in the nation.

With two national championships in one day, the Florida Gators proved they are a force to be reckoned with at the NCAA Championships. Head coach Gregg Troy praised his athletes for their perseverance and commitment to excellence, noting that both victories were the result of months of intense preparation and teamwork. “The guys stepped up when it mattered most,” Troy said. “They showed incredible poise under pressure, and I couldn’t be more proud of what they accomplished today.”

As Day 2 of the competition wrapped up, the Gators were in contention for more titles, with their eyes set firmly on the overall team championship. With such impressive performances, Florida’s men’s swimming and diving team is poised for a strong finish at the 2025 NCAA Championships.
