Warrick Dunn Returns to Florida State as Director of Player Development
March 28, 2025 – Florida State University has officially welcomed back one of its most legendary alumni, Warrick Dunn, as the new Director of Player Development. The former Seminoles star running back and NFL standout is set to bring his leadership, experience, and mentorship to the program that shaped his career.
Dunn, a key figure in FSU’s storied football history, played for the Seminoles from 1993 to 1996, helping lead the team to a national championship in 1993. His impact on the program was profound, as he became the first running back in school history to rush for over 1,000 yards in three consecutive seasons. After his collegiate success, Dunn went on to have a stellar 12-year NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons, earning three Pro Bowl selections.
His return to Tallahassee marks a significant moment for both the program and its players. As the Director of Player Development, Dunn will focus on mentoring student-athletes, providing guidance on life after football, and helping them navigate the challenges of college athletics. His presence is expected to enhance the culture of discipline, perseverance, and community engagement within the team.
“This is home for me,” Dunn said in an interview with ESPN. “Florida State shaped me into the person I am today, and I want to give back by helping these young men grow both on and off the field.”
Florida State head coach Mike Norvell praised the hire, emphasizing Dunn’s invaluable influence. “Warrick Dunn embodies everything we want in this program—excellence, leadership, and heart. His experience and dedication to making a difference will have an immeasurable impact.”
Beyond football, Dunn has been a beacon of philanthropy through his Homes for the Holidays program, which provides housing assistance to single-parent families. His return to FSU is a full-circle moment, ensuring his legacy continues to inspire the next generation of Seminoles.
