Chelsea released a surprising statement on Tuesday stating that Mauricio Pochettino is no longer their manager.
If this had happened earlier in the season it wouldn’t have been a surprise, but there was a feeling that
Pochettino was really starting to take control of the Chelsea team, who had finished the season as one teams in form in the Premier League.
The Blues look destined to remain mid-table in December, but will play in Europe next season after a successful end to the season.
It is important to note here that Pochettino has not been officially sacked. Instead, he left by mutual consent.
This indicates that the two parties have decided to part ways, at least officially. “Chelsea FC can confirm that
the Club and Mauricio Pochettino have mutually agreed to part ways,” reads the club’s official statement.
Behdad Eghbali, co-owner of the club, was apparently determined to change and was said to have been a key voice in all meetings.
Reports indicate that Chelsea need a “younger and more progressive” manager, although it is unclear why
they have come to this conclusion just 12 months after appointing Pochettino on a two-year contract that could have been extended to three.
Chelsea’s motivation for leaving Pochettino appears to have been driven by the Argentine’s desire to have more of
a say in their notorious transfer policy. Clearlake Capital, owners of the Stamford Bridge club, instead wanted the manager to have less say in this regard.
The Blues have insisted they stick to a project which sees them recruit young players with potential. Pochettino has made it clear he wants a more balanced approach.
Speaking ahead of the Premier League game against Everton, the former Tottenham and PSG manager said:
“We need to bring in more young players and we need to bring in more experienced players. But this is a conversation.
“The club, agree to analyze and develop the next season’s strategy and fight for great things. This is really important. ”
The agreement sought by Pochettino appears to have been impossible.
But it wasn’t just the new players who wanted their manager to have more influence.
He was very convinced that Connor Gallagar should not be sold.
Instead, the owner is regarded as an “net profit” actor, and so on, drop it in the summer in the summer, and
the economic burden on the first profit and sustainable development rules. Leave it in the summer to support you -Riga.
This would have been another major problem at odds with Pochettino’s plans.
It should also not be ignored that Chelsea’s overall results this season have been below expected standards.
Although there had been a strong upward trend since Christmas – Chelsea had the third best form in the Premier League since then –
the aim was to return to the Champions League. The Blues are clearly below this mark. Certainly, Pokettino may be rejected this season.
After the Karabao Cup 1: 0 Karabao’s semifinals, the first stage of Midlusbro, and the embarrassment of 5-0 loss, we went to Arsenal.
Chelsea ended in the sixth place of the Prime Minister, who was 5 points behind Aston Villa in fourth place,
but the Champions League was always meaningless. It was below expectations.
The Chelsea Committee Pokettino is remembered in the context of the following:
If the Blues build on his achievements at the end of the 2023/24 season, he will be seen as a manager
who ultimately held the team together in difficult circumstances and built a harmonious team with smart personnel management right.
If the Blues regress, his legacy will become less clear. But Chelsea fans will remember Pochettino as the manager
who brought them to the brink of re-realizing their super club potential, and for his solid work at Stamford Bridge.
